Apricorn 5TB Aegis Fortress L3 - FIPS Level 3 Validated Encrypted Portable Drive

The Aegis Fortress L3 is specifically designed to fully comply with NIST FIPS 140-2 Level 3 requirements, ensuring that every component of the device, from the hard drive to the external fasteners and enclosure, is encompassed within the elevated FIPS Validation boundary. Crafted from a single block of aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum alloy, the enclosure is equipped with snap-off uni-directional security fasteners and a membrane-style keypad.

Internally, all data is encrypted in real-time with AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption as it is written to the drive, safeguarding your information even if the hard drive is removed from the enclosure. The Aegis Fortress L3 is plug-and-play straight out of the box, requiring no software, drivers, or updates. It is fully compatible across various platforms including PC, Mac, Linux, and mass storage compliant systems with a powered USB port.

In line with other Apricorn secure drives, the L3 features forced enrollment to address common security vulnerabilities found in other encrypted drives. This system eliminates factory-preset default pins, requiring the Admin to set a pin before the device can be used. Pin entries are carried out on the device's keypad, ensuring compatibility with systems lacking keyboards and keeping security parameters separate from the host computer.

The Aegis Fortress L3 offers two Read-Only modes for enhanced data protection, ideal for public settings to guard against USB viruses, as well as preservation of data in its original, unaltered state. The drive also includes a Brute Force Defense mechanism, automatically triggering a crypto-erase after a certain number of consecutive incorrect pin entries to render the drive's data inaccessible.
